The LEED Green Building Rating system is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. The LEED for construction Rating System is designed to guide and distinguish high-performance commercial and institutional projects. The following is a breakdown of points that may contribute to LEED points on your upcoming green project!
MR Credits 2.1 & 2.2 Construction Waste Management, Divert 50-75% from Disposal: These credits apply if “waste” stone used in construction is diverted to a beneficial use rather than being disposed.
MR Credits 3.1 & 3.2 Materials reuse, 5-10%: These credits apply if salvaged stone products can be reused for another purpose in building design.
MR Credit 5:1: Regional Materials (1 Point) The ratings support the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. Use of building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered must equal a min. of 20% of the combined value of construction in materials as well as manufactured within 500 miles of the project site.
MR Credit 5:2 (2 Points) Meet the requirements for 5:1. The project must use a min. of 10% of the combined value of construction and Division 12 (Furniture) materials and products extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project.
ID Credit 1: Innovation in Design – Cradle to Cradle Certification (1 Point) Even if you don’t fall within 500 miles, our Cradle to Cradle Certification gets you a point in Innovation in design.
